2021 Annual Communication

In planning for the 2021 Annual Communication to be held in Lethbridge, we found it prudent that we have in place alternate considerations for a continuation of the disruptions resulting from Covid-19 restrictions. As a result it will come as no surprise that we have found it necessary to cancel our plans for hosting an in-person Annual Communication in Lethbridge.

It there have been numerous requests regarding the resumption of regularly scheduled activities; with the return to Level-1 status within the Province of Alberta all indoor in-person activities remain on hold. As the weather continues to moderate and turn warm the obvious question is can we schedule activities outdoors…

It is with sadness that I woke to the news that Prince Phillip, husband to Queen Elizabeth II, had passed during the night. Depending on the source of the news being reported he was generally universally loved and had served his station with dignity.
March 23 COVID-19 Update

Brethren, Many of you likely tuned into the television and radio broadcasts on Monday March 22 to review the latest information from the Alberta Government and the Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw. As such you are aware that no changes or relaxations to the previous orders have been made. As such regularly scheduled in-person meetings remain on hold until some relaxation is granted.
January 22 COVID-19 UPDATE

We all have been waiting for news allowing in-person lodge activities to resume and yesterday marked another decision day by the Province. I must once again report that very little has changed with respect to our ability to resume operations. With the Provincial Order (CMOH-38 Dec. 8, 2020) still in effect we cannot yet make a decision on reopening our lodges and as a result our in-person lodge meetings will remain suspended until further advised.

While it was my hope to announce that regular Lodge actives could resume on Monday January 4th, 2021 – this is not to be.

Brethren, It is with great regret that, based on Pending Provincial Emergency Health Orders, I must announce that all in-person Lodge actives are placed on hold until December 31, 2020 with an anticipated resumption date of Monday January 4th, 2021.
November COVID-19 UPDATE

Brethren, After careful consideration and consultation I hereby declare effective Tuesday November 17, 2020 all in person Lodge activities are placed on hold until November 30th. This order is in line with the request by the Province of Alberta that we limit all social gatherings to reduce the escalation and spread of the Covid-19 virus. The one exception will be the last District Meeting scheduled for Beaverhills District on Saturday November 28 – this will proceed under the current limitations of 15 attendees.
Grand Master’s Message – Covid-19 Update

Brethren, As we enter November we are still at the mercy of Covid-19 and the necessary protections that we must follow to ensure member safety while assembling for masonic purposes. One week ago I prepared a message for the Alberta Freemason that included the latest details released by Dr. Hinshaw concerning assembly within Alberta – as of this afternoon those restrictions have not changed.

I have been monitoring the news from last night and the updates posted on the AHS website for information relating to new Covid-19 restrictions and guidelines that are being requested and implemented across the province. In light of the statements issued by Dr. Dena Hinshaw all Lodges in the Edmonton Zone shall adhere to the advice being communicated.

Brethren, as expected Covid-19 continues to remain an issue for our Craft but we are making progress in adapting to how we must do business. Rural lodges are finding more success in adapting to the requirements but again this was foreseen. We will outline some additional steps which we hope will clarify some issues we expect the membership to be facing in the weeks ahead. Please read carefully as once again this is a long and detailed message.
